Mechanisms of Action
Bacosides, the primary active saponins in Bacopa monnieri, exert their effects through multiple pathways:
- Cholinergic modulation: Bacosides enhance acetylcholine availability by increasing choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) activity and reducing acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity. This is thought to be a key mechanism for memory enhancement.

Benson et al. (2014) — Anxiety Study

Barbhaiya et al. (2021) — Systematic Review & Meta-Analysis
Design: Meta-analysis of 9 randomized controlled trials (n=518) on Bacopa and cognition.
